Accommodation

Smithfield is a mix of residential and commercial buildings. While a part of the suburb is occupied by the Smithfield-Wetherill Park Industrial Estate and other commercial sectors, most of the houses and apartments are located on the other side. Most of the dwellings are independent houses, which makes it easy for students to find a rental house on a budget. There are also plenty of apartments and flats available for rent in the area. Transport

Smithfield is well-connected with the surrounding regions and suburbs via roads and train lines. Cumberland Highway/ Smithfield Road (Route A28) is a mega highway passing through Smithfield. It connects Smithfield with the suburbs of Fairfield West, Canley Heights, Cabramatta, Wentworthville and Greystans, among others.

Other major roads/streets in Smithfield include Horsley Drive, Polding Street, Brennan Street and Victoria Street, providing connectivity throughout the suburb.

Fairfield train station is the nearest rail station. It serves trains on the Inner West & Leppington Line and Cumberland Line. Smithfield is served by the 806, 808, 812, 813, 814 and 817 bus routes of Transit Systems Sydney. Bus route 806 runs through Fairfield Train Station, Parramatta Railway Station and Liverpool Railway Station.
